## How it works

1. User enters text, uploads a file, or submits a URL
2. SHA-256 hash is computed locally in the browser (SubtleCrypto API)
3. Only the 64-character hex hash is sent to the server
4. The hash is submitted to OpenTimestamps calendar servers
5. Within ~3 hours, the timestamp is confirmed in a Bitcoin block
6. The proof is permanently verifiable by anyone, with or without Proxae

## Trust model

- Content is **never** sent to the server — only the SHA-256 hash
- All proof IDs are UUID v4 (not sequential)
- IP addresses are stored as SHA-256 hashes
- OpenTimestamps receipts are independently verifiable at opentimestamps.org
- Bitcoin block confirmations are verifiable on any block explorer
